The
Silver Pirates upped their league record to 5-2 on Saturday evening
as they defeated the Urbank "Goldtimers" 12-1 in six
innings.
Perham plated
seven runners in the first inning using four walks and six hits to
set the pace for the game. A total of 9 free passes were
awarded by Urbank pitchers and the Pirates spanked 15 base hits in
the shortened contest.
Leading hitter
for the Pirates was John Kotaska as he was 3 for 3 with a double and
two RBI's. Jason McClellan, Jim Nelson, Gary Lackey and Erin
Anderson chipped in two hits each and four Pirates had single
safeties - Mollins, Belfiori, Miller and Sheets! All nine
of the Pirate starters hit safely and they also turned in an error
free game in the field.
Steve
Sheets continued his solid, outfield play with a pair on nice
catches and catcher Jim
Nelson did a nice job behind the plate.
The
mound victory belonged to the Silver boys "ace" lefty,
Gary Lackey as he faced 26 hitters, allowed 1 run and 3 hits
while striking out 9 and issuing 4 free passes! One of the
walks was erased on a double play in the fifth.
