In the night cap of the Sunday’s twin bill the Braves were the victim of a perfect game tossed by Terry Schultz.  He had total control facing the minimum 21 batters, fanning twelve. 

Dean Vlasak started on the hill for the locals going six innings, allowing four hits, seven walks with nine strikeouts.  Mike Nelson hurled the final frame allowing a run, a hit, with three walks and two strikeouts.

Sunday’s double dip began with an extra-inning affair that slipped away to Union Hill in eleven innings. 

Russ Ehlers made his mound debut, going four innings, allowing four runs on three hits, with three strike outs, seven walks and two hit batters.  Troy Clement came on for seven innings of relief allowing a run, on five hits, hit one batter and two free passes while fanning three. 

The Braves got all five of their runs in the fourth inning when Tom Becker and Pete Plut singled, Steve Biehn walked, Lynn Schwarz, Clement, and Paul Factor reached on consecutive errors.

Lynn Schwarz put forth a strong pitching performance Friday night, tossing the complete game shutout.  He allowed just two hits, walking four, hitting one batter and fanning three. 

The Braves jumped on the board with a run in the first when Paul Factor reached first on a wildpitch stikeout.  Chad Anderson and Tom Becker followed with singles. 

Russ Ehlers led off the second with a double and scored following singles by Rob Gentz and Chad Blaschko.  

Anderson led off the third with a double and scored on Chip Schloesser’s two out double. 

An insurance run was added in the fifth as Blaschko walked and Factor singled. After stealing third base, an error on Anderson’s grounder allowed Blaschko to score.

On Sunday evening the Braves got it handed to them by Bloomington.  The Eagles compiled ten hits and took advantage of walks and some sloppy fielding by the Braves. 

Ken Schmidt started on the hill lasting two and a third innings, allowing six hits and walking one.  Tom Becker provided two innings of relief allowing four runs on three hits and two walks with a strikeout.  Dean Vlasak hurled two-thirds of an inning allowing a run, a hit and two free passes.

Last Friday was the renewal of a rivalry with Veseli and also the Anderson boys.  Jerry and Todd Anderson play for Veseli.  The Braves came away with the win in a tight contest. 

Chad Anderson was sharp for the locals.  He got the win hurling the first five frames allowing one run, on one hit, walking three while fanning seven.  Lynn Schwarz pitched the final two innings allowing a run on two hits, with no walks or strikeouts. 

One Brave run scored in the first when Chad Blaschko walked, stole second, and scored on an Anderson single. 

In the second Schwarz walked, Tim Palmquist singled and Blaschko walked to load the bases.  Johnny Martinez plated two runs with a single. 

An insurance run was added in the fifth when Martinez singled, stole second, and scored on another Anderson single.

Braves Survive Webster

In a baseball game walks and errors can kill you.  Fortunately the Braves were on the receiving end more often Sunday at Webster. 

Lynn Schwarz took the hill and allowed one run on four hits, with three strikeouts, in his four innings of work.  Tom Becker closed out the contest yielding five runs, four hits, four walks and fanning six. 

The Braves scored in bunches using only seven hits quite efficiently. 

The Braves got it rolling in the second when Tim Palmquist walked, Rob Gentz, Steve Biehn and Mark Helling all singled, Mike Nelson and Chad Blaschko both walked, Paul Factor reached on a fielder’s choice and Gary Schloesser singled. 

The fourth saw six runs plated with only one hit.  Biehn and Helling both walked, Nelson was hit by a pitch, Blaschko walked, Troy Clement doubled, Johnning Martnez walked, Palmquist was hit by a pitch and Pete Plut walked. 

The seventh saw Russ Ehlers reach on an error, Helling walk, Blaschko single and both Clement and Martin Martinez walk.  Becker followed with a bases clearing double.

Braves Nip Tiger’s Tail

In a game shortened by the ten-run-rule the Braves downed The Belle Plaine Grey Tigers 10-0. 

Chad Anderson started on the hill, allowing just one hit, walking two, two hit by pitch and fanning six in four innings of work.  Ken Schmidt tossed the final frame yielding one hit with one strikeout. 

After leaving the bases loaded in the first inning the Braves got on the board in the second.  Lynn Schwarz singled, Russ Ehlers was hit by a pitch and Rob Gentz singled to again load the bases.

Chad Blaschko walked, Johnny Martinez singled, Paul Factor singled, Anderson and Troy Clement each reached on a fielder’s choice and Chip Schloesser doubled to plate six runs.

The locals added three in the third on five consecutive singles by Gentz, Blaschko, Martinez, Factor and Anderson. 

A final run came in the fourth as Schloesser walked, courtesy runner Mark Helling eventually scored as Martin Martinez was hit by a pitch, Blaschko walked and J. Martinez hit a sac fly.

BEES DROP THE BRAVES 5-0 IN LAST INNING

After a noon rain flooded Ray Plut field, extra grounds work did allow the game to go on as scheduled.  It was a scoreless contest until the Bees put up a five spot in the top of the seventh inning. 

Lynn Schwarz and Gary Fritch locked up in a pitcher’s duel. Fritch went the distance, allowing just two hits while fanning nine Braves.  Chad Anderson and Pete Plut had those two lone singles.  Schwarz scattered five Bee’s hits, walking five with seven strikeouts.  Ken Schmidt tossed the final two-thirds of an inning yielding a hit and a free pass.

BRAVES GO 1-1 IN EXHIBITIONS
Gearing up for the Regular season the Braves split exhibition games in May.  The locals downed the Eden Prairie Lion’s Tap 9-2 and dropped a 6-2 contest to Prior Lake
