performance from Doug Hansen and won handily 14-1. John Miller hit a 2-run
home run for the Cardinals and Derek Swenson had one "go over"
but it was ruled a ground rule double when the umpire was unable to
see the play. Jeff Anderson made a one hand running catch of a drive down
the left field line for the defensive play of the game.

Lyndell Frey fashioned a neat three-hitter
and Eden Prairie Lion's Tap rolled to an 11-1 victory over the New Hope
Bandits, courtesy of a nine-run second inning. Kyle Aug and Carlos Ubiera
were 3-4 with Aug collecting 3 RBI's and ending the game in the seventh
inning with a tape measure homerun over the football press box in center
field at Belle Plaine. Frey had two hits and two RBI's, Rod Helling had
two hits and an RBI and Greg Elder had two hits in the same inning. The
"big inning" started when Frey got trapped off third base with
the score 2-1 and then escaping on an error. |

Randy Stucky tripled and Marty Davis
doubled him home in the top of the second for the first St Peter run
of the game. In the top of the third, Jim Sullivan and Lee Pell
walked for St Peter to open the inning. Pete Moulton then doubled
and Rich Ryan singled to score three more runs for St Peter.
Eden Prairie came back in the bottom
of the third, with three runs of their own on singles by Bob Moore,
Dave Miller and Bob Cass and helped by a couple of St Peter errors.
St Peter pushed across another run in
the fifth on 3 walks and a fielder's choice.
In the top of the eighth, Rich Ryan
led off with a home run to give the Saints a 6-3 lead. St Peter went
on to score 4 more runs to win the game 10-3 and advance to round
two.

Doug Arvidson doubled with the bases loaded

Belle Plaine mounted a potential threat in
the top of the ninth when Belle Plaine pitcher Kevin Studnicka reached
first base on an error with two outs. Buster Brazil then hit a monstrous
fly ball center field, but it was hauled in at the base of the fence with
a masterful over the shoulder catch by center fielder Perry Becker to end
the game.
Randy Burkman of the Hasbeens pitched a
complete game two hitter to earn the victory. |

of the first with a 4 run outbusrt highlighted by Kyle Augs 2 run home run
over the left center field fence.
Oakdale countered in the bottom of the
first as Rickey Michel doubled and later scored on an error.
In the top of the third, Eden Prairie's
Mike Max was hit by a pitch, Carlos Ubiera reached on an error and Kyle
Aug Doubled them both home. Dave Fuecker singled and Greg Elder hit a home
run to score two more runs for EP.
Paul Lucktenberg doubled down the left
field line for Oakdale in the bottom of the 7th and later scored on a
single to right by Reid Tschumperlin. Lucktenberg
Oakdale erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of
the 8th. Highlights were Rickey Michels bases loaded double of the right

Gill drove in Ron Krautkremer.
Alex countered with three in the bottom of
the first with the big hit being Ryan Bergau's double off the left field
wall.
Bill Ziegler got a hit in the 7th and later
scored on a base hit to give Alex a 4-1 lead
Dennis Seurer hits a 2 run home run in the
top of the 8th to cut the margin to 4-3.
